The Dad Who Loves Gadgets
For the dad that is fairly tech savvy and likes to have the newest gadgets, here are some of our top suggestions for Father's Day 2009.
1. CEIVA Digital Photo Frame:
This photo frame is unlike any you've seen before. Not only can you personalize the skin of this frame with a special message to Dad, but you can also send pictures directly to this frame using your phone or email. Now if you live far from Dad, you can surprise him with a recent framed picture of you at all times! We found this frame at CEIVA for $199.
2. FLIP MinoHD: Yes, I know that you have heard about the FLIP, but did you hear about the new one in HD that can be customized with any photo on the shell? All you have to do is upload a picture of you and your dad and you can can customize your very own FLIP. Plus since this records in HD, the quality is impeccable and since it's a FLIP you know that it's very easy to use. We found this at FLIP for $230.
3. Logitech Quickcam: If you live far from your parents, it's nice to be able to see them more than a few times a year. Since most PC's don't have a camera already built into your computer (and I do believe that more parents are PC owners than MAC), buy Dad a webcam and set him up with a SKYPE account. Now you can see each other all the time. If he's tech savvy than he should be able to set up the webcam easily, and I guarantee you that he will love this gift. We found this at Amazon for $44.
4. Sony Webbie HD Camcorder & Camera: If you are deciding between buying your dad a digital camera or a camcorder, than your decision is made. You can buy him both! The Sony Webbie HD is similar to a FLIP in that you can use it as a pocket sized video camera- plus you can use it to take still photos as well. If this is a new dad or grandparent, than this is the perfect gift to give. We found this at Sony for $170. But please note that you may want to also buy Dad an extra memory card.
5. iChime: If your dad is into music and gadgets and has a sense of humor then this is the perfect gift. You can download your itunes playlist or a preset song from iChime and customize your doorbell ring. This is so much better than the traditional doorbell sound! We found this at iChime for $90.
6. Wii Sports Resort: Okay, so it may seem odd to get Dad an IOU gift for Father's Day, but trust me if he plays the Wii, he will appreciate it. If the newest Wii game set is anything like the others, than you can trust that it will sell out fast. So all that we can say is PREORDER this now. Come July 26th- you and Dad will be playing this game together and so thankful that you have ordered it already. The games comes with all the new summer sports for the Wii and looks really fun! We found this at Amazon for $47.
7. Kindle: Now we know this is not new, but it really is the best gift. Ask your siblings to all chip in and treat Dad to the Kindle. If your dad is anything like mine, and is constantly reading he will love this gift. He can download any magazine, paper or book to his Kindle and read it anywhere. It's easy to use and really helpful when traveling or simply lying by the pool. We found this at Amazon for $359.
8. Automotive PA System: This gadget is hysterical! If your dad has a sense of humor and is constantly driving in the car then this is the gift for him. He can personalize his car horn by selecting music , sayings or sound effects using the systems built-in options or record his own. This gift is really fun! We found it at COGApa for $68.
